Effective crisis management through joint innovation

Pieter-Christiaan calls for innovation at the Emergency Expo

On the third exhibition day of the Emergency Expo at Ahoy Rotterdam, Pieter-Christiaan van Oranje, CEO AGT Netherlands will give a key note speech. The theme of the knowledge program of this day, April 10, is “Are we ready?”.

Van Oranje will speak about how the various parties involved in the safety domain can strengthen each other and can innovate together to bring a fitting, efficient and intelligent answer to the threats of today.

The Mayor of Rotterdam, Aboutaleb will open the day and will speak on the subject from the perspective of the private domain. The mayor will also receive the results of the Emergency Conference which is taking place at the same time as the Emergency Expo.

Threats of today are becoming more and more unpredictable and abstract. This is demanding a new approach than the more ‘traditional’ threats, where public-private collaboration is mostly aimed at physical security: fences, gates, security dogs, etc. Today, the focus should be on information exchange, ‘smart’ technology and collaboration. Both the public and private sector are not ready to face the risks big data and the ‘internet of things’ bring. Van Oranje states: “Science, the public and private sector should function as an ecosystem for applied innovation and together gain joint successes and growth.” In his key note Pieter-Christiaan van Oranje will describe best practices and already implemented successful projects in the field of information exchange between public and private parties for effective crisis management.
